Sampling.

After the joining workshop a few weeksago i produced a hand sewn layered tissue paper sample to reflect layered feathers with organic shapes.

I photographed it onto a mannequin because it reminded me of a cute peter pan collar! This got me thinking...
I really like delicate structures so i used some of my fabric that i have printed onto with a feather pattern using devore to take some of the layers of the fabric away. I then overlapped this with a peach colour to represent contrast and to link back to the flamingos. They were completley hand sewn to make it delicate and was sewn just when the half circles joined...

I really like this, it's really pretty. But despite using light fabrics the stitch and the amount of layers has added a weight to the whole piece.. I like the contrast of block colour and patterned fabric...

After looking at the 2 pieces together i thought i would put them together so theres another texture addedin. The tissue paper is alot lighter and brighter so adds a direct highlight to the whole sample. Altough it looks heavier than the silk and cotton.
