Printing onto Plastics 23.04.2012.

Today i spent the morning printing on to a variety of plastics of different weights and transparencys.
Print onto white opaque plastic.
Love the speckled effect that the dye created as it sat on the surface of it.
Different print onto the same white opaque plastic.
A sandwich bag print overlayed ontop of the opaque plastic. I like how the images merge into one. The pattern isn't so distinct which also is interesting in itself as new shapes and patterns can be explored... (note to self)
Close up of the layering. A combination of thermochromic and procion based dyes. The thermochromic dyes are the lighter of the two dyes.
Overlapped flower plastic and bin liner. Love the 'wet look' and how the same pattern doesn't quite match up adding another layer of different pattern.
Close up of overlapped plastic. I like the use of the lighter colour sitting on top of the dark pink as i feel it highlights it more and it allows you to see through it !
Printed flower plastic. Looks good overlapped as the pattern is not massively extravagent so can create subtle texture.
Codatrace. I printed straight on top of it in a different colour and print to createa direct contrast altthough they came from the same inspiration source.
With this piece i used a bin liner that i just layed underneath the heatpress so that it crumpled and gathered in places, which creates organic shapes.
Here i used a previous print and then sewed into cling film. The cling film completley disintergrated and just left the stitching intact.

Jess x
